As part of EmPower’s work on women’s leadership development, UN Women partnered with ARROW to develop a Training Manual on Gender and Climate Resilience (manual link). Using the materials from this manual, three Trainings of Trainers (ToTs) for representatives of civil society organisations (CSOs) was organised early this year in Bangladesh, Cambodia, and Viet Nam. UN Women now aims to amplify the impact of the capacity building work by organising the ToTs in three more countries: Thailand, Nepal, and The Philippines.

Description: El Programa de Comercio, Género y Desarrollo de la UNCTAD organizará una nueva edición del curso en línea sobre comercio y género del 22 de marzo al 9 de mayo de 2021. This online training programme will introduce participants to the operating principles and most commonly used strategies and tools for integrating a gender dimension into budgetary processes within organizations. Starting with the basics of GRB through an analysis of the budgeting cycle, the course will discuss how organization's commitments on gender equality can (and should) be supported by setting budgetary priorities in order to achieve de facto gender equality, diversity and inclusion, as well as effective use of budget funds. The main topics that will be discussed are: Why gender matters; Gender-responsive budgets: principles and definitions; GRB and the budget cycle framework: key steps and outputs; Tools for GRB: costing gender equality, diversity and inclusion. Organizations can use this moment of recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic to put in place policies and practices that can support gender equality, diversity and inclusion in the long term. This eLearning course involves interactive online readings, guidelines, practical activities and tools for gender responsive-budgeting and for costing gender equality plans within organizations.

This e-learning course introduces participants to the concept, principles, tools and practical examples of gender responsive budgeting (GRB) and how to use it. Starting with basics of gender equality principles, through public budgets and budgetting the course discusses how best to combine gender knowledge with knowledge of public finance to achieve de-facto gender equality and effective use of budget funds. This e-learning course provides participants with a general introduction to the field of transitional justice from the perspective of the need for accountability for women’s specific experiences of harm during conflict. Legal as well as non-prosecutorial responses to women’s experiences of harm (such as international criminal trials, truth commissions and reparations programmes) will be examined. Case studies from processes employed in post-conflict contexts such as Lebanon and Syria will be used to illustrate the application of critical concepts of gender theory to the transitional justice field.
After this course, participants will: • be able to identify the relevance of gender equality to processes of post-conflict transition and transitional justice; • be able to critically assess processes of transition from a gender perspective; • possess knowledge on the particular experiences of transitional justice for women in a number of specific country contexts.

This e-learning course introduces participants to principles, strategies, normative frameworks and policy approaches that have emerged from this work. Examining critical concepts such as masculinity, patriarchy and intersectionality, the course discusses why a holistic approach is central to achieving gender equality and explores the relationship between gender equality, sustainable development and human rights.
Through case studies, it will also look at how practitioners can use these key concepts to transform gender relations and overcome gender inequalities faced by women and men. Participants will think critically about how men and boys can serve both as change agents and as target groups in realising gender equality and gender justice for all. This course will focus on the lessons learned by organisations that have carried out gender equality programmes that have engaged men and boys in fields such as gender-based violence, sexual and reproductive health and rights, domestic work and caregiving, education, income generation and economic empowerment of women.

This e-learning course provides participants with an understanding of how a gender lens is critical to all elements of peacebuilding, conflict resolution and recovery work, initiatives and policy. It outlines the normative framework around women’s rights and peacebuilding, security sector governance, approaches to transitional justice, security policy making and awareness raising on women’s and gender issues. This course uses weekly case studies to illustrate how the normative framework has been put into practice in different regions of the world. Finally, the course takes a critical look at the implementation of the women, peace and security resolutions, including gaps that that make a comprehensive, realistic and effective response to gender, peace and security issues challenging in field as well as in the global discourse. Participants will critically analyse international interventions on peace and security from a women’s rights perspective.
