Description:
This research study examines the social policy and identity issues raised by population ageing. It shows the way in which similar issues play out in different regions and different cultures, whether Japan or Canada, Peru or Turkey, the United States or countries in sub-Saharan Africa. The study identifies gaps in data and the kinds of information needed to address the issue of elderly women in the era of globalization as well as urbanization, including long-term changes in the labour market as well as continuing changes in family and household structures and patterns of care-giving.
