Description:

This paper examines the interrelationship between migration, gender, remittances and development and also serves as an entry point for future research and project proposals. This framework aims to establish the basis for formulating a more adequate response to questions such as: how does the growing feminization of migration affect remittances flows? How can remittances contribute to the achievement of gender equality? The paper reviews the main elements that are in play and that cannot be overlooked in a gender analysis of the sending, use and impact of remittances.
