To pay tribute to the story of INSTRAW as well as to the women’s movements and governments which supported it, the UN Women Training Centre presents the publication “The legacy of INSTRAW in promoting the rights of women. A historical record of the Institute between 1976 and 2010”, available in English and Spanish.

The UN Women Training Centre is pleased to present the Library on Women’s Political Participation at Local Level in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The UN Women Training Centre is proud to present the Self-Assessment Test for Municipalities. This interactive application in form of stoplight is a user-friendly tool for technical staff or local authorities. It guides users to make their own assessment on how much gender equality is mainstreamed in their local government and it gives an indication of progress and challenges.

The UN Women Training Center is pleased to introduce the Gender Equality in the UN Interactive Tool. The tool was created as an overview of the most important events in the fight for gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Looking ahead to the next summit of Habitat III, on housing and sustainable development, in October 2016, the UN Women Training Center presented the webinar "The Gender Agenda in Habitat III". This webinar was centered around the presence of women and women's agenda for Habitat III, the key issues under discussion and the implications of this conference for the advancement of gender equality in the region.

Inequalities between women and men and the increase in violence against women sets great challenges for local democratic rights-based management. It is essential to link human rights, gender equality, and public policies to strengthen local democracy and local development.

In the fall of 2015, IOM Director General William Lacy Swing announced the mandatory completion of the UN Women Training Centre's I Know Gender Course, with the aim to build awareness and understanding on gender issues. A race was launched among all IOM offices to complete the course. Since then, over 3270 IOM staff around the world, have completed the course. The UN Women Training Centre congratulates these efforts and hope that other UN Agencies will follow in their footsteps. Watch the video below published by IOM celebrating their results.

Joint Declaration by DCAF and the UN Women Training Centre: DCAF and the UN Women Training Centre are pleased to announce the release of the Spanish edition of the Gender and Security Sector Reform Toolkit - a comprehensive resource providing information and analysis on gender and security sector reform.

The UN Women Training Centre is pleased to announce the opening of the registration for the course Why We Care about Care: An Online Moderated Course on Care Economy is now open. The course will take place from 2 May to 3 July 2016 (deadline to apply 21 March).

Under the umbrella of the 16 Days of Activism to Eliminate Violence against Women and Girls, the UN Women Training Centre and the World Food Programme (WFP) jointly delivered two workshops on Understanding Masculinities and Violence against Women and Girls from 01 – 04 December in Rome, Italy, for WFP personnel.
