Training Workshop: Empowering UN System Gender Focal Points 8 سبتمبر 2015 The UN Women Training Centre held the Face-to-Face part of a Training of Trainers (ToT) to support UN System Gender Focal Points from August 31 to September 4. The course was designed for specific UN Women staff so they can support and ensure the adequate, consistent and efficient performance of their appointed Gender Focal Points. Participants were trained to provide training for Gender Focal Points from different agencies and different geographic regions to ensure a consistent and high level quality in strengthening the gender related capacities across the UN system in support of the “Empowering UN system Gender Focal Points” course offered by the Training Centre. Understanding Masculinities and Violence Against Women course reproduced in Kyrgyzstan 1 سبتمبر 2015 On 12 august 2015, the UN Women Country Office in Kyrgyzstan launched its Academic Gender Summer School in Ashu, Chui oblast. Part of the programme included the module “Masculinities and Violence Against Women” delivered by Communications Specialist Umutai Dauletova based on trainings provided by the UN Women Training Centre. Certification of facilitators for participatory gender audit (Spanish) 6 أغسطس 2015 Registration is now open for the certification of facilitators for participatory gender audit (PGA). This course will take place online from 7 September to 2 October and in-house in Santo Domingo from 5 to 9 October 2015 and will be held in Spanish. The certification course for PGA of the International Labour Organization (ILO) will ensure high quality standards for facilitators who take the PGA certification and will provide guarantees to the organizations that the certified facilitators for PGA shall comply or exceed the quality standards established by ITC-ILO. How to manage gender-responsive evaluation: UN Women professionalization initiative 15 يوليو 2015 The UN Women professionalization initiative was developed in collaboration between the Independent Evaluation Office (IEO), Human Resources and the Training Centre. The professionalization initiative is a comprehensive, hands-on programme aimed at developing core competencies in managing gender-responsive evaluation for UN Women staff. Created with contributions from UN Women staff located around the world, the initiative is comprised of the UN Women Evaluation Handbook, an eLearning course, and a coaching programme. UN Women seeks to increase capacities of evaluators and national evaluation systems around the world in gender-responsive evaluation, thus all aspects, except the coaching programme, are accessible publicly. Training for Gender Equality, Twenty Years On 28 مايو 2015 The UN Women Training Centre is pleased to present its report “Training for Gender Equality: Twenty Years On”. The paper analyses how training for gender equality has evolved from the 1995 Beijing Platform for Action (PFA) to the present day. By reflecting on what has worked well to date, and what challenges remain, the report represents a first step in mapping training for gender equality and identifying remaining gaps in knowledge. It contributes to the Training Centre’s work on improving training for gender equality through evidence-based practice, in line with our commitment to training as an essential component of a transformative approach to gender equality. UN Women trains 23 local trainers to engage Liberian men for gender equality 14 مايو 2015 Twenty three representatives from civil society, the Government of Liberia and UN Women Liberia implementing partners have acquired new skills in ‘Engaging Men and boys for Gender Equality and Ending Violence Against Women and Girls’. Jointly organized by UN Women Liberia and the UN Women Training Center based in Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic, the four-day training focused on deepening participants’ knowledge and understanding of gender power relations, masculinity and violence against women; and strengthening participants' knowledge and skills in delivering effective training. During the Training of Trainer (ToT) workshop, participants learned and practicalized different theoretical and conceptual frameworks on understanding gender power relations regarding masculinities and violence against women and girls.
