The UN Women Training Centre is pleased to announce the Virtual Dialogue: Theory of Change and Feminist Pedagogies in Training for Gender Equality, which aims to articulate theories of change for training for gender equality; and how feminist pedagogical principles can be applied to training to evoke such change. This Virtual Dialogue will take place online from 3 - 21 October, 2016 on the UN Women Training Centre Gender Equality Community of Practice (CoP).

On 4 August 2016, the UN Women Training Centre delivered a training to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Dominican Republic country team on Gender Mainstreaming in Programmes and Projects. Participants first completed the Spanish version of the online self-paced course I Know Gender, which provided an introduction to gender concepts, issues, and international frameworks, before focusing gender mainstreaming in the face-to- face portion of the training.

The UN Women Training Centre is pleased to announce the Virtual Dialogue on the Compendium of Good Practices in Training for Gender Equality, a compilation of exemplary experiences in the field. This Virtual Dialogue will be held from 29 August – 16 September in English and Spanish through the Training Centre’s Community of Practice (CoP).

In partnership with the InClaritas Foundation, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) is holding Leading in Times of Global Transition, a retreat for women senior leaders. The three-day intensive retreat aims to achieve heightened personal leadership skills.

The UN Women Training Centre Glossary is now available through the United Nations University (UNU) mobile app Jargon Buster, a glossary app that defines hundreds of UN terms and acronyms, as selected by various UNU sites. The free app is searchable, offline, and can be downloaded for Android and iOS operating systems.

This past 5-6 July in Vienna, Austria, the UN Women Training Centre participated in the Women Higher Education for Peace Forum, organized by the DNP Education Partnership and coordinated by UNODA.

The module provides an overview of gender and women’s rights in peace and security contexts, the international framework for advancing these, and concrete examples from the field on how to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment in peacebuilding and security initiatives.

On June 30th, the UN Women Training Centre held the Webinar Gender Parity in Costa Rica, in the context of the 2016 local elections. The Webinar aimed to present the experience of Nielsen Perez, who was a candidate for Mayor of Vázquez de Coronado, a canton of the city of San Jose in Costa Rica. Her testimony presented the landscape of women´s political participation in the electoral process to the participants of the Webinar.

This course aims to improve participants’ understanding about the importance of human rights and gender equality in democratic local governance and inclusive development. Participants will be able to identify strategies that are adapted for their local context to promote gender equality in local development.

Registration is now open for the certification of facilitators for participatory gender audit (PGA). This course will take place online from 22 September to 21 October and in-house in Santo Domingo from 24-28 October 2015 and will be held in Spanish.
