Success at the Gender Focal Points Training in Turin!

This past 27 May, 33 participants completed the face-to-face portion of the Empowering UN System Gender Focal Points course. The course, organized jointly with the ITC-ILO, aims to strengthen the capacity of UN System gender focal points in their specific role and functions in advancing gender equality within their own organizations.

I Know Gender now available in Spanish and French!

Over 15 thousand people from all over the world have already taken the course I Know Gender: An Introduction to Gender Equality for UN Staff. Now, the UN Women Training Centre is proud to announce the three core modules of the course are also available in Spanish and French.

UN Women Training Centre Participates in Training on Migration in Public Policies

This past 23-27 May in Turin, Italy, the UN Women Training Centre helped deliver the course “Integrating Migration into Public Policy Planning” organized by the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ITC-ILO) and the International Organization of Migration (IOM). This course consisted of a series of workshop that aimed to develop/strengthen capacities of the integration of migration into public policy, as well as the comprehension of the mechanisms, opportunities and challenges faced by migrants, and how to apply a human-rights approach to regulations linked to migration.

Now Available! Self-Learning Booklet on Masculinities and Violence Against Women and girls

The Self-Learning Booklet: Masculinities and Violence against Women and Girls was developed as the result of a series of training courses that aim to strengthen capacities of development practitioners and advocates to understand, integrate and address critical gender issues in their lives and work. This tool aims to assist both UN and non-UN staff to better understand the issues of masculinities in relation to violence against women and girls.

UN Women Training Centre 2015 Annual Report

The UN Women Training Centre is pleased to announce the publication of its 2015 Annual Report. The Report highlights the work and activities carried out by the Training Centre in 2015, a year of great growth and evolution for the Training Centre courses and its eLearning Campus. The Report details results from the 27 courses offered by the UN Women Training Centre. It also highlights the role of the Training Centre as a training resource hub by delivering Training of Trainers and holding and Expert Group Meeting on Training for Gender Equality.

Training Centre holds Webinar for Gender Focal Points

On 13 April, the UN Women Training Centre held the Webinar Gender Focal Points as Agents of Change. The Webinar aimed to present Gender Focal Points and interested UN Staff with the concept of the UN System Gender Focal Point as an agent of change by not only drawing attention to the issues of gender equality, but also serving as a hub of information and providing the necessary tools and skills to enable UN Staff to adopt practices that advance Gender Equality.

Now Available! Compendium of Good Practices in Training for Gender Equality

The UN Women Training Center is pleased to present the Compendium of Good Practices in Training for Gender Equality, which aims to make both an empirical and an analytical contribution to the field of training for gender equality. The Compendium offers in-depth information on ten different good practices, including detailed outlines of training courses, examples of dealing with challenges, and a collection of tools and activities for use in training for gender equality.

Training Centre Presents Typology on Training for Gender Equality

The UN Women Training Centre is pleased to present the Typology on Training for Gender Equality, a classification of the types of training for gender equality: awareness-raising and consciousness-building, knowledge enhancement, skills training, change in attitudes/behaviours, and mobilisation for social transformation. The Typology aims to support training commissioners to plan, develop, design, deliver and evaluate training-related activities.

The Empowering UN System Gender Focal Points course explores key areas related to gender equality and the empowerment of women. It examines the UN Gender architecture and reviews strategies and tools to identify and address gender equality challenges within the UN. It reviews gender mainstreaming tools (such as gender markers and the UN System Wide Approach on Gender Equality) and their concrete application. The course also addresses communication and advocacy tools to promote gender equality.
