GTCoP - Community of Practice Training for Gender Equality

The Environmental Education and Training Unit (EETU) is responsible for the implementation of Environmental Education and Training activities at UN Environment (UNEP). Environmental Education and Training (EET) promotes attitudes and value systems that influence environmentally ethical behaviour by developing understanding, skills and values that enable people to participate as active and informed citizens in the development of an ecologically sustainable and socially just society. EET at UN Environment is organized around three pillars namely: Education, Training and Networking.

 The UN Women Training Centre is dedicated to supporting the UN and other stakeholders to realize commitments to gender equality, women’s empowerment, and women’s rights through transformative training and learning. Its vision is to become the leading UN centre that contributes, through training for gender equality, to building a society that respects and promotes human rights for all women and men.

The International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP), a part of UNESCO, is the only specialized UN organisation with the mandate to support educational policy, planning and management.

UNICEF’s mission is to advocate for the protection of children’s rights, to help meet their basic needs and to expand their opportunities to reach their full potential. UNICEF promotes the equal rights of women and girls and to support their full participation in the political, social and economic development of their communities. UNICEF's work includes a focus on early childhood development, adolescence development and participation, life skills based education and child rights all over the world. Its policies, programmes, partnerships and advocacy efforts contribute to poverty reduction, the achievement and the protection, survival and development of girls and boys on an equal basis. The organization seeks to engage boys and men in transforming gender relations towards more gender-equal societies.

UN-HABITAT promotes socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all. To improve gender equality in governance, UN-HABITAT focuses on training and capacity building - including for local governments - as well as awards and competitions, research and monitoring, and supporting women’s networks in local governance. 

UNFPA is the lead UN agency for delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every birth is safe, and every young person's potential is fulfilled. It promotes the right of every woman, man and child to enjoy a life of health and equal opportunities. UNFPA amplifies its impact by empowering governments by providing data and analysis to show where countries are falling short, by mobilizing resources and expertise, by advocating directly with government officials or in public forums and through training and monitoring. 

United Purpose (formerly known as Concern Universal) is an international development charity with an community led approach to delivering the Sustainable Development Goals and eradicating global poverty and inequality. Its approach combines intelligent development, disruptive innovation and enabling independence making us a powerful agent of change. One of Concern Universal's training initiatives in Malawi is featured as a good practice in the UN Women Training Centre's Compendium of Good Practices in Training for Gender Equality.

USAID is an independent US federal government agency that supports long-term, equitable development worldwide by supporting: economic growth, agriculture and trade; global health; democracy; conflict prevention; and humanitarian assistance. In addition to supporting capacity development initiatives globally, the organisation's Learning Lab offers training courses on issues like gender equality.

La Unidade de Igualdad de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid promueve la igualdad de género a través de la investigación, la capacitación y la advocacia. La Unidad de Igualdad también está trabajando para realizar un mapeo de los grupos de investigación y de las asignaturas con contenidos de género dentro de la Universidad Complutense. 

El Centro Interdisciplinario de Estudios de Género (CIEG) de Chile se dedica a la investigación, docencia y extensión en temas de género. Ha asumido de manera integral el desafío de la interdisciplinariedad dentro de un medio académico donde predominan las divisiones disciplinarias. El CIEG ha enfatizado la necesidad de abordar de manera integradora la reflexión sobre los procesos de transformación de las relaciones de género, con especial énfasis en la realidad chilena y latinoamericana.
