Esta publicación pretende incrementar, mediante la incorporación de un análisis centrado en los aspectos de género, la efectividad y sostenibilidad de las iniciativas que tratan de potenciar el papel de remesas para el desarrollo y lograr que dichas iniciativas tengan la capacidad de generar modelos de desarrollo dentro de los cuales la igualdad de género sea un objetivo central.

This case study presents the Filipino migration to Italy. It examines the characteristic of migratory process and remittance flows between the Philippines and Italy. It provides an overview of some of the key actors currently working on initiatives linked to migration, remittances and development. It also presents an analysis of remittances' impact and potential for promoting gender-sensitive sustainable rural development and food security in the communities of origin.
