Description:
This document examines the link between women and health focusing on the Beijing Plattform for Action. The Plattform affirms that the greatest global threat to women's health is poverty. Poverty not only deprives women of the resources needed to pay for health insurance and services, including maternal health services, it also deprives them of access to nutrition, education, clean water and sanitation, transportation, and security. Specific research on the impact of gender inequality, diferential power relationships and persistent discrimination on women's health is essential, both for improving women's health and as concrete evidence to support the call for gender equality.
