The UN Women Training Centre Delivers Training on Gender and Migration in Hyderabad and Bangkok

The UN Women Training Centre delivered two trainings of the course Gender, Migration, Development: a Matter of Rights. The first training took place in Bangkok from 24-26 November, building the capacities of relevant staff of inter-agencies mechanisms, gender machineries, civil society organizations, migrant worker alliances and networks.

Closing ceremony at the UN Women's Training on Gender and MigrationThe second training took place in Hyderabad from 30 November to 3 December, organized in collaboration with the Andhra Pradesh State Skills Development Corporation (APSSDC) and the Overseas Manpower Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (OMCAP). Participants of this edition came from three districts of Andhra Pradesh (East Godavari, West Godavari and Cuddapah) and were comprised of district labour welfare officers, employment officers, faculty from APSSDC, faculty from Industrial Training Institutes (ITI’s) and NGO’s working on this issue.

The Gender, Migration, Development: a Matter of Rights course aims to prove thinking and action around migration and development from a gender and rights-based perspective. Participants gain knowledge and capacities to design programmes and policies that strengthen the positive effects of migration in terms of development, both in origin and destination countries.
