Virtual Dialogue on Professionalization of Gender Trainers

The UN Women Training Centre is pleased to announce the Virtual Dialogue: Professionalization of gender trainers, which aims to to discuss the professionalization of gender trainers – reflecting on how trainers are currently trained, developed or “made”; what qualifications they should have; what criteria and credentials they should meet; what kinds of professional ethics and standards they should aspire to uphold; how this should be decided and by whom; and what the opportunities and limitations of such classifications are.

This Virtual Dialogue will take place online from 24 October - 11 November, 2016 on the UN Women Training Centre Training for Gender Equality Community of Practice (CoP).

This online discussion is an exciting opportunity for participatory reflection on the professional qualifications of trainers and measures for quality assurance within training for gender equality. Drawing together a broad audience, including the 1,700 members of the Training Centre's Community of Practice (CoP), experts, practitioners, researchers, academics and development organizations, the discussions generated by this unique event will move us closer to catalyzing the transformative potential of training for gender equality.

The Virtual Dialogue will consist of a series of moderated online discussions centered around the Professionalization of Gender Trainers. To guide these online discussions, the Virtual Dialogue includes a self-titled Webinar to take place on Thursday 3 November 2016, 11:00 am AST. Click here to register for the Webinar.

The Webinar and online discussions will feature the participation of the following invited expert speakers/panelists:

  • Lina Abou Habib, Executive Director of the Women Learning Partnership
  • Clemencia Muñoz, Chief of the UN Women Training Centre
  • Hector Martín Frías, Sub Director of Gender Training and Formation Mexico's National Women's Institute (INMUJERES), Mexico (presentation to be delivered in Spanish)
  • Soline Blanchard, Lecturer and Research Fellow, University of Lausanne, Switzerland
