This case study of the Dominican Republic examines the police, judicial and penal systems, and civil society through a gender lens in order to assess the status of equal participation and gender equality in the security sector. The study analyses the Dominican security sectors progress in incorporating gender consideration into its work, in two areas: women's possibilities to participate in the work of each institution on the onehand and as beneficiaries of the services of the security sector on the other.
