The UN Women Training Centre supports ITC-ILO on Gender Academy

From 16 to 27 November 2015 in Turin, Rome, the UN Women Training Centre supported the delivering of the ICT-ILO Gender Academy, a global international event on gender, development, work and employment, gathering experts and successful practitioners.

New Resources! Training for Gender Equality: Twenty Years On - Infographic and Interactive Tool

Using the Beijing review process as its central theme, the report Training for Gender Equality: Twenty Years On explores the key developments and issues in training for gender equality since 1995. The accompanying Interactive Tool and Infographic provide a quick overview of the findings presented in the report. These three tools provide a review how training for gender equality has evolved from the Beijing Platform for Action in 1995 to the present day (Beijing+5, Beijing+10, Beijing+15, and Beijing+20) in the Platform’s critical areas of concern.

Marking 15 years of Resolution 1325: Courses on the Implementation of the Security Council Resolutions on the Women, Peace, and Security Agenda

This month we celebrate the 15th anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 that addresses the disproportionate impact of armed conflict on women and the pivotal role women should and do play in conflict management, conflict resolution and sustainable peace. To continue to support the implementation of this important normative framework on women, peace and security issues, the UN Women Training Centre and the Peace Operations Training Institute (POTI) are launching 3 courses that aim to strengthen the capacity on resolution 1325 on a global level.

IOM Presents Video Promoting I Know Gender Course

In an effort to support training for gender equality throughout the UN System, the International Organization for Migration has launched a call to all its staff urging them to take the UN Women Training Centre’s e-learning course “I Know Gender: An Introduction to Gender Equality.” This call includes a video by William Lacy Swing, Director General of the IOM, informing their staff that because gender equality is vital to their success in assisting migrants and their families, the course is now mandatory to all IOM staff. To support IOM with the strategy to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment into its mandate the Training Centre is providing a training for Training for IOM Gender Focal Points this week (12-16 October) in IOM Headquarters in Geneva.

Joint Statement from Expert Group Meeting on Training for Gender Equality

UN Women Training Centre held an Expert Group Meeting on 26 - 28 August in Santo Domingo aiming to share knowledge and research in training for gender equality. The Expert Group was composed of recognized experts in the field of training for gender equality both from academia and training institutes.

Training Workshop: Empowering UN System Gender Focal Points

8 September 2015

The UN Women Training Centre held the Face-to-Face part of a Training of Trainers (ToT) to support UN System Gender Focal Points from August 31 to September 4. The course was designed for specific UN Women staff so they can support and ensure the adequate, consistent and efficient performance of their appointed Gender Focal Points. Participants were trained to provide training for Gender Focal Points from different agencies and different geographic regions to ensure a consistent and high level quality in strengthening the gender related capacities across the UN system in support of the “Empowering UN system Gender Focal Points” course offered by the Training Centre.
