This e-learning course introduces participants to general definitions, concepts and normative and legal frameworks related to concepts of gender-based violence. The course will cover forms, causes and consequences of GBV in conflict contexts, as well as on an endemic basis. Prevention and response programming, as well as models underpinning mainstreaming and targeted actions on GBV, and the need for coordinated approaches will be covered. The course will provide basic knowledge and skills on GBV to staff of international humanitarian and development organisations aiming to deepen their understanding and engagement on GBV responsive programming.

This e-learning course analyses the concepts of human trafficking and migrant smuggling while discussing various practical cases from around the globe. This blended course, Empowering Gender Focal Points: Agents of Organisational Change will provide Gender Focal Points (GFPs) with an introduction to the UN Gender architecture and explores strategies and tools for identifying and addressing gender equality obstacles within organisations. The training includes an online phase (22 October-16 November) and a week-long face-to-face workshop (19-23 November, ILO Centre, Turin, Italy).
Jointly organized by the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organization (ITC-ILO) and the UN Women Training Centre, the training will analyse gender mainstreaming tools such as the UNCT scorecard, gender markers and the UN System Wide Approach on Gender Equality, alongside its concrete application, as well as build a community of practice within GFPs to foster discussion and sharing of good practices. This training is ideal for GFPs and gender facilitators tasked with supporting and promoting gender mainstreaming in their departments, organisations and agencies. However, it is also open to all staff interested in taking gender issues and inclusiveness in their work.

This course on transformative leadership for gender equality (15-19 October 2018, Istanbul, Turkey) aims to strengthen capacities and the knowledge of managers and organizational leaders to advance gender equality, women’s empowerment, and women’s rights. The UN Women Training Centre invites participants from civil society, development agencies, UN agencies and/or from the private sector to register. This e-learning course provides a general introduction to the evolution of the concept of gender equality within the international human rights system. It provides a foundational understanding of the centrality of gender equality to human rights discourse generally and how this is addressed within the UN human rights system specifically. Participants will gain an overview of the various legal and normative frameworks that promote women’s rights, address gender identities, and advance practical approaches to securing gender equality. The course will also examine critical concepts such as intersectionality and cultural relativism as they relate to the enforcement of existing international approaches to advancing gender equality and human rights.

Description: The new edition of the UN Women Training Centre's Gender Mainstreaming course will take place 17 September-19 October 2018, including one face-to-face week-long workshop in Istanbul, Turkey. A blended course, the Gender Mainstreaming consists of four weeks of online training at UN Women Training Centre’s eLearning Campus and one week face-to-face; where the participants will be able to solidify what they have learnt with practical exercises, dynamic and participatory activities and case studies. Participants will also have the invaluable chance to network with one another.
The objective of the course is to build on the capacities of the United Nation’s System, stakeholders, development organisation and all those interested in incorporating a gender perspective in public policy, programs, projects, institutions and organisations.
