This training handbook aims to improve understandings of the gender aspects of climate change. It is intended for experts and the interested public, and has been organized as a training programme for representatives of institutions and state administrations as a source of information for the preparation of practical training, as well as a guide for the introduction of gender perspective in programmes and projects.
UNDP has updated 10 training modules and policy briefs on the gender dimensions of climate change covering a range of themes and sectors. This module provides basic information and learning tools needed to understand and advocate for the integration of gender perspectives into regional-, national- and community-level climate change adaptation and disaster risk initiatives.
UNDP's series of training modules and policy briefs on gender and climate change target practitioners and policy makers in Africa. The themes are of specific relevance to Africa, and include overall climate change issues, adaptation, finance, agriculture and food security, and energy and technology. These materials draw on the capacity development work being undertaken in partnership with other members of the Global Gender and Climate Alliance (GGCA) and complement existing GGCA training modules, resource guides, and related knowledge products.
This training-of-trainers manual is designed to train you to be able to deliver a capacity enhancement workshop (CEW) to rural women on climate change and gender. It has been designed by the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) and is appropriate to the South Asian context. At the end of this Training of Trainers (ToT) course, trainers will:
How can gender be taken into account in the fight against climate change and hunger? This is the main question addressed by this training guide. The guide is targeted to agricultural development professionals who need better information on the ways in which men and women adapt to and mitigate climate change and how best to address their needs when supporting the development of climate-resilient rural communities. This introduction indicates what is and what is not covered in this guide.
This Masterclass document was created by UN Women for the purpose of capacity building and training in the area of gender and climate change. The Manual is intended to guide the participants step-by-step through the Masterclass, following its overall agenda. This Masterclass document was adapted from the UN Women Bangladesh Masterclass titled, ‘Rights based approach to gender and climate change’ in Bangladesh which was developed by Irene Dankleman in cooperation with UN Women Bangladesh and the UN Women Regional Office for Asia Pacific. This document was then adapted to the Cambodian context and updated based on the discussions and outcomes of the Masterclass, as well as consultation with UN Environment project partners, and is now in a final version so that it can inform other stakeholders, and be rolled out to support work on gender and climate change in Cambodia.
This toolkit is designed to support climate change practitioners in the Pacific islands region to integrate gender into their programmes and projects. It is aimed at climate change professionals working in national governments, non-governmental organisations, regional and international organisations who are involved in managing and implementing climate change programmes.
This manual on gender mainstreaming in climate change and disaster risk reduction for civil society organizations is an important step to prepare everyone, especially women and girls, on the ground to be the changemakers at the frontier of climate action. This training manual is a comprehensive knowledge product developed within the Empower project. It is a result of a detailed needs assessment done in the three pilot countries – Bangladesh, Cambodia and Vietnam. It is designed for use by CSOs in the AsiaPacific region working with communities on gender, climate change resilience, human rights, and disaster risk reduction. It covers the key concepts, issues, policy frameworks, and practices in these domains and takes a practiceoriented approach to learning that can be replicated in real life situations to enhance decision-making, strengthen community-based women’s resilience, advocate for gender mainstreaming, and design gender-responsive projects. The coverage of examples and case studies included in the manual is beyond the pilot countries, making it relevant for use in wider Asia-Pacific context.
This comprehensive resource kit on gender, population and climate change explores how gender equality can reduce vulnerability to climate change impacts and how women are uniquely positioned to help curb the harmful consequences of a changing climate. The kit was developed by UNFPA and WEDO.
This pack of presentations and exercises for facilitators to use in training settings will help climate and development professionals to integrate gender perspectives into climate projects and programmes. Specifically, the training aims to help participants:
