Description:
This training manual is designed to strengthen the role of civil society organizations (CSOs), especially those working on gender and women’s rights, in understanding the importance of mainstreaming gender into climate policies, programmes and budgets at the regional, national and local level. Part of its key objective is to enhance the understanding of gender and climate change linkages, as well as the skills and capacities of the CSOs for strengthening community-based women’s resilience and climate change adaptation so that climate action on the ground would more likely integrate a gender equality perspective. The manual uses country examples/case studies from within the region, where applicable and builds on already existing materials and trainings. It was developed as a comprehensive package to cover both beginners and advanced participants. Although it is focused on gender, the manual also encompasses other gender intersectionalities, including age, sexual orientation (all LGBTIQ), (dis)ability, and social status, among others. A training of trainers (ToT) package (including a user guide, a concept note, baseline survey and feedback formats, a sample programme schedule, presentations, facilitator’s references, handouts, etc.) is also included.
