This report sheds light on how to train teachers to promote gender equality by eliminating discrimination. It is an account of the 2003 “Development for Enhancing the Gender Sensitive Teaching” training programme, conducted by the Korean Women’s Development Institute (KWDI), which equipped teachers to enhance gender equality “consciousness” and implement gender equality education. This document presents an overview of the programme, the results of classroom observation and lesson learned. It offers insights on training teachers to make gender equality a core part of education; integrating the experiences and needs of female and male students into all educational practices; and enabling students to overcome traditional gender relations through education.
